USGA STATE TEAM SELECTION
Selection Criteria
Every two years the USGA conducts the Woman’s State Team Championship where 3 players selected by each state golf association compete against the other state teams. For Arizona, the player must be an amateur golfer who is a member in good standing of the AWGA and must meet USGA State Team entry qualifications. All members of the State Team must be legal residents of the State of Arizona.
Our State Team will be made up of three (3) players and an alternate/team captain (if deemed necessary). The first two players shall be selected via the point system listed below and must have participated in at least 6 individual AWGA tournament days during the selection period which is from August 1, 2005 to July 31, 2007. The points for the first 12 months of the selection calendar will be valued at 1/2 the value of the points of the 2nd 12 month period.
The third player and alternate/team captain (if deemed necessary) may be selected via the same point system or may be exempted onto the team for exceptional performance during the selection period by the Selection Committee. The third player and alternate/captain should have participated in 4 AWGA tournament days. Any exemptions must be made public no later than July 31, 2007. The Selection Committee shall consist of the Tournament Director, Rules Director, President, Executive Director and the Golf Operations Manager of the AWGA. Up to two members of the 2005 State Team will be asked to participate in the selection process.
